It shouldn’t be accident to know that the Honda Passport was developed to take active lifestyle folks beyond the highway.
It was developed from the same platform currently shared with the Ridgeline pickup truck and Odyssey minivan to be more agile two-row SUV. The Alabama-built Passport has done quite well for itself, finding fans with thrill-seeking active lifestyle customers.
That continues with a new set of updates on the 2024 Passport. Some of which focus on the TrailSport version, which we have for our round of testing. Let’s see how Honda’s capable two-row mid-size SUV fare this time around.
2024 Honda Passport TrailSport
From the outside, there had not been a bunch of changes made to the basic Passport. It sports a style that is purpose-built. From the blunt front-end to its slightly sloping roofline, the Passport was made for adventure by just glancing at it.
Our TrailSport tester adds more rugged details that invites you to go play. The 18-inch alloy wheels wear all-terrain tires – new for 2024 - ready for adventure. Along with the TrailSport badges, there is a specific grille with additional cladding and trim to distinguish it from other trim levels.

Once inside the Passport, the driver has a digital instrument cluster screen with analog fuel and temperature gauges. The infotainment touchscreen, along with the climate and audio controls, command the center stack. The main center console offers a few controls, including a series of buttons for the nine-speed automatic transmission.
You are treated to a set of huge leather-trimmed front seats that are both comfortable and supportive. The orange contrast stitching and the stitched TrailSport logos also makes these seats attractive to all occupants. There is a lot of room between the two rows of seats for four adults or a family of five.

The expansive cargo space starts with a sizeable 41.2 cubic feet behind the second row. Once you fold down the rear seats row, and that increases to a generous 77.7cubic feet.
This Passport was powered by a 280-horsepower 3.5-liter V6 with 262 pound-feet of torque on tap. A nine-speed automatic is connected to it, along with its i-VTM4 all-wheel drive system and Intelligent Traction Management.
It delivers on performance and acceleration was fine. It does better off the highway, using its Intelligent Traction Management in deliver traction on sand and dirt. We also observed a fuel economy average of 23.4 MPG.
2024 Honda Passport TrailSport
In terms of ride quality, the Passport TrailSport’s off-road suspension was smooth on many surfaces. Handling and cornering are on the soft side, with some controlled roll through the turns.
Steering is pretty good with solid on-center feel and decent response from the wheel. The turning radius is average, though a few more turns would be in order in tighter areas. Brakes are fine, with solid pedal action and average stops in normal and panic situations.
Pricing for the 2024 Honda Passport starts at $41,900. You can choose from three trim levels. Our TrailSport all-wheel-drive tester came with a sticker price of $46,350.

The Honda Passport is not an outlier within the SUV genre. It competes against some two-row models that can match its tremendous space and utility – some offering up equal amount of capability as in the TrailSport. Consumers compared the Passport to the Chevrolet Blazer, Ford Edge, Toyota Venza, Nissan Murano, Mazda CX-50, Hyundai Santa Fe, Kia Sorento,Volkswagen Atlas Cross Sport, GMC Acadia, and Subaru Forester Wilderness.
