When it comes to electric vehicles, General Motors has been on a roll lately. With the Ultium platform as its basis, there are now nine models across three brands – with more to come. 

For Chevrolet, the Chevrolet Blazer EV has become its showcase SUV model. Not because it takes on an iconic name, but to move the bar for it. This two-row electric model also has a trck up its sleeve – performance worthy of pacing a major motorsports event. A 2025 Blazer EV SS paced this year’s Daytona 500.

Along with its Ultium platform, the 2025 Blazer EV takes the shape that is an evolution of Chevrolet’s current design language. The front clip is cleanly designed with an LED light bar and running lamps/turn signals up top. LED headlamps appear on the edges of the front clip. The profile is contemporary with a “coke-bottle” dip, broad rear fender “shoulders,” and a flush C-pillar glass. The rear end offers a a set of Y-shaped LED taillight units to compliment the clear liftgate design. 

Our SS tester wears 22-inch machine-faced alloy wheels with performance tires. Darker trim and red SS badges finish up the look of this high-performance electric SUV. 

Stepping inside you are greeted with an 11-inch digital gauge cluster, sitting next to an impressive 17.7-inch touchscreen for the Google Built-in driven infotainment system. There is no smartphone mirroring available on the Blazer EV. To start the vehicle, you simply sit down and depress the brake pedal. There is a column stalk for the shifter, along with a mix of hard buttons and haptic touch controls throughout the cabin. 

The upholstery is in Adrenaline Red – a very bright shade on this mix of Evotex and suede. The front seats are comfortable and offered support Rear seat room was fine for two adults or three children. There is 25.5 cubic feet of space behind the rear seats, expandable to 59.1 cubic feet. 

The 2025 Chevrolet Blazer EV SS is powered by a dual motor driveline, delivering 615 horsepower and 650 pound-feet of torque. You can access the higher end of this power through the Wide Open Watts drive mode. Power is sent to all four wheels. 

It has been said that the 2025 Blazer EV SS can go from 0-60 mph in 3.4 seconds when Wide Open Watts is enabled. We were not able to test this out, but there is exceptional acceleration from this driveline, nonetheless. You can enable Super Cruise for a more relaxing, hands-free drive, as well. As for range, the EPA rates the Blazer EV SS at an estimated range of 303 miles on a full battery. 

Ride quality is quite firm. This is buoyed by a heavy battery pack, giving the 2025 Blazer EV SS a curb weight of 5,730 pounds. Handling was surprisingly flat with nominal roll and lean. 

We found the steering to be fine. While there was some lightness in lower speeds, it can solidify itself on the highway – especially when Super Cruise is enabled. The turning radius is a bit on the wider side. The brakes were also fine, with a solid feel from the pedal yielding good stops in normal and panic situations. Energy regeneration can be adjusted along with one-pedal driving. 

There are three 2025 Chevrolet Blazer EV models available, starting from $44,600. Our SS tester came with a sticker price of $64,180. 

ChevroletChevrolet’s Blazer EV competes in another growing segment in the automotive industry – fully battery-electric SUVs. Mainstream brands have been trotting out choices in this class. Competitors include the Ford Mustang Mach-E, Jeep Wagoneer S, Tesla Model Y, Toyota bZ, Subaru Solterra, Nissan Ariya, Hyundai IONIQ 5, Kia EV6, and Honda Prologue. You can also throw in the Chevrolet Equinox EV onto your shopping list. 

The 2025 Chevrolet Blazer EV is a solid choice amongst this group. Having a performance option in the SS gives it a more compelling reason to consider it. With the EV Tax credit expiring, this might be a good chance to get one soon.
