2025 Hyundai Tucson Hybrid

2025 Hyundai Tucson Hybrid

Hyundai has been riding on the success of their Tucson SUV. Consumers have taken to their bold style and excellent practicality. It is currently the volume seller for the brand.

For 2025, Hyundai addressed some key concerns about the Tucson. Namely, it’s interior design. They also went ahead and did some slight nose work. However, they kept the essence the same, by offering three different propulsion options – including the Hybrid model we’ve just tested.

What has changed? A slight reworking of the front clip creates a friendlier take on an already bold design. That starts with a reshaped main grille that appears to be wider than before. This is augmented with a set of driving lamps forming reshaped wings from the large bold grille. The headlamp units are tucked away off to each edge of the front clip. Larger lower air intake and a new frame round out the new front clip’s design.

The lines from this front clip form into a sporty fastback-line roofline and a boldly sculpted profile. The satin chrome strip above the side window silhouette sets the roof off very nicely. The rear end sports a pair of split vertical taillamps that dictate the form of the liftgate.

Our Limited tester wore five-spoke 19-inch alloy wheels and some satin chrome trim that is both bold and subtle at the same time.

The biggest change in the 2025 Tucson is the shift to Hyundai’s flat panel dashboard design. This resolves. A lot of the concerns that consumers had with the pre-update model. The Hybrid Limited’s 12.3-inch instrument cluster is fully digital and customizable. It also houses the Blind Spot Rear-View Monitors that pop up on each dial, depending on the turn signal used. This is also augmented by a 12-inch head-up display. Next to it is the 12.3-inch infotainment touchscreen, now with wireless smart[hone integration.

The center console is cleaner by design. They placed the shifter onto a rigid stalk off of the steering column, following a lot of the latest Hyundai models. The center console now offers more stowage, including a narrow space underneath the armrest.

Our Hybrid Limited tester wore perforated leather seating offering some support and comfort. There is a plastic piece below the headrest set with a satin chrome strip on each front seat. Taller and wide-shouldered drivers did not feel comfortable with that piece of plastic behind their upper backs. The rears seats offer excellent leg and head room, along with solid comfort.

The cargo hold is very spacious. It starts with 41.2 cubic feet behind the rear seats, expanding to 80.0 cubic feet with those seats folded down.

The hybrid driveline starts with a 1.6-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine connected to an electric motor and battery pack seen on other Hyundai models. It offers a combined 231 horsepower and 276 pound-feet of torque. This driveline also adds a six-speed automatic transmission and Hyundai’s HTrac all-wheel-drive system.

Performance overall is very good. The 2025 Tucson Hybrid held its own around town, as well as on the highway. In terms of fuel economy, the Environmental Protection Agency states that it will average 35 MPG on a combined loop.

The driving experience in the Tucson Hybrid is entirely pleasant one. The ride quality is smooth, managing rougher road surfaces without sacrificing cabin quality. It also handles quite well with nominal lean and roll through evasive maneuvers and corners.

We found the turning radius to be tight, despite some artificial feel from the steering system itself. On-center feel is solid. We love the braking system with its sure stops in normal and panic situations. Pedal feel is solid and response to the system is very good.

Pricing for the 2025 Hyundai Tucson Hybrid lineup starts at $33,395 with four trim levels to choose from. Our Hybrid Limited AWD tester came in with a sticker price of $42,550. You also have a choice of five non-hybrid trim levels and two additional Plug-In Hybrids, all starting from $28,605.

The number of compact SUVs with hybrid drivelines has grown within a popular class of vehicle. The Tucson Hybrid competes against the Toyota RAV4 Hybrid, Honda CR-V Hybrid, Kia Sportage Hybrid, Mazda CX-50 Hybrid, Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV, and the Subaru Forester Hybrid.

If you are looking for an efficient compact SUV that is bold and disruptive, look no further than the 2025 Hyundai Tucson Hybrid. You can have a stylish SUV with an efficient driveline that will satisfy your want for efficient practical transportation.
