What makes the 2025 Chevrolet Traverse a compelling vehicle is how well it matches up with the competition.
The newest version arrived in 2024 with a fresh look and new driveline. The improvement did not stop there, as they took it on a crash diet to save weight. The result is a vehicle that is more relevant than ever. Sales are up, as well.
The thing we wanted to see is whether the Traverse stacks up in a segment that emphasizes space and practicality above everything else.
The Chevrolet Traverse follows the latest Chevrolet design language. That starts with a large and bold grille that defines the front clip. A pair of slim LED driving lamp/turn signal units reside on top, while the actual headlamp units of set to the side of the front clip. The rear end is flanked by an LED horizontal taillight arrangement that frame the liftgate. The profile is more upright than before with an interesting C-pillar glass design. An applique bridges the top of the glass to the door profile. 
Our Z71 tester wears a set of 18-inch gloss black alloy wheels with all-terrain tires. All of the trim and grille are also in gloss black, as well.
Inside, drivers are greeted with an 11-inch fully digital instrument cluster screen. The graphics were clear and easy to read. It is next to a large 17.7-inch infotainment touchscreen driven by Google built-in. You can still connect your smartphone wirelessly, as well. The controls are new to the Equinox, including a column-mounted shifter. They remain tactile and easy to use. 
Seating is available for up to seven. Z71 models come upholstered in Evotex. Front seats were fine. They could use some more support. Second-row captain’s chairs offer plenty of space and decent comfort, along with a lot of adjustability. Third-row access was fine and Chevrolet states it can seat up to three in the far back. 
Cargo space is absolutely enormous, with 22.9 cubic feet available behind the third row of seats. Once the third-row seats are folded down, then you have 56.6 cubic feet of space. With both the third and second row seats folded down, cargo space ultimately grows to 97.6 cubic feet. 
The 2025 Traverse is powered by a 328-horsepower 2.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine with 326 pound-feet of torque. It is connected to an eight-speed automatic transmission sending power to all four wheels.
This powertrain does a fine job motivating this 2025 Traverse. It has plenty of power to accelerate and cruise. Around town, it is more than suitable to get around. As for fuel economy, the EPA states that it would achieve an estimated 19 MPG in the city and 24 MPG on the highway.
The ride quality was fine, even on rougher surfaces. It handled decently with some lean and roll on the curves. Th all-terrain tires worked just fine in the wet conditions we experienced. 
We appreciated the steering system, and its solid on-center feel. The action was fine and turning was just right. The brake pedal was pretty responsive. The 2026 Traverse yielded decent stops in normal and panic situations.
There are four trim levels available for the 2025 Chevrolet Traverse. Pricing starts at $40,700. Our Z71 AWD tester came with a sticker price of $55,129.
